ICT in Canterbury

The ICT industry in Canterbury can largely be divided into two types of companies: electronics and software. However, in recent years, an increasing number of companies are becoming involved in ‘embedded software,’ which is a combination of electronics and software development (and best described as ‘special-purpose computer systems that are completely contained by the device they control’). An example of a company working with embedded software is Deviceware, who have developed an unmanned aircraft used for meteorological and atmospheric research.

The ICT industry also includes those companies that design and develop website solutions for all sorts of organisations in all kinds of industries, such as Bootstrap IT, Cabbage Tree Creative and Design IT.
